Six Tips For Back To School 2016

Summer has gone by quickly, and it's time to go back to school. Starting a new school year can cause a lot of stress for many people, but it doesn't have to be that way. A new school year is a great time for students, and parents, to start fresh and get excited for the future.
We've all gone through the emotions of starting a new school year, and these six tips should help it go off without a hitch.
Tip #1: Determine and set realistic goals
Think about what you'd like to accomplish during the school year. Write your goals down and put them somewhere you'll see every day. For students it could be something as easy as "Make a new friend this year" or "Get an A in Science class," and for parents it could be something related to your child's education like "Help Jake study for his AP test," or it could be something just for you like "Run a mile every day." No matter what your goals are, make sure you know you can accomplish them so you are setting yourself up to win.
Tip #2: Take care of yourself by eating and sleeping well
Seems easy, right? You would think so, but this one can often be the hardest for people because it's easy to stay up late studying, sleep in and forget breakfast, skip lunch because you have class, etc. It's so crucial to take care of yourself in order to have a successful school year.
Tip #3: Stay organized
This can relieve a lot of unnecessary stress. It's important to keep all of your things organized so you can use them more effectively. Buy high-quality school supplies that will last all year so you can keep everything in the same place. Invest in a planner so you can write your schedule and to-do list down. Organizational techniques aren't cookie cutter, so find the best ways that work for you, and do those consistently.
Tip #4: Manage your time effectively
This goes along with part of Tip #3 - purchasing a planner so you can write down your schedule. Whether it's easiest for you to write your schedule down in your planner, or keep it organized in the calendar on your phone, find what works for you and do it. The better your time is managed, the more freedom you'll have, and the less stressed you'll be.
Tip #5: Get involved
One of the best ways to enjoy your school year is to be involved in something at school. Join a sports team, sing with the choir, write for the school newspaper, be part of a club - any one of these ideas (and there are many more!) can help you feel like a big part of your school, and will give you things to look forward to at the end of a long day of class.
Tip #6: Show your school spirit
Wear your school colors. Get a t-shirt or hoodie from your school. Doing this will really help you feel connected to your school and your year will be even better.
These six tips will help you have a successful school year, and if you aren't going back to school, these tips can also be useful for every day life.
