World Teachers Day

Today we honor teachers and teacher organizations contributing to the education and development of our future leaders. October 5 is a global event to celebrate World Teachers Day launched by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994.

Almost everyone has had a teacher who went above and beyond to encourage them during school. Take a moment today to thank a teacher who has seen your potential or made a positive impact on your life.

There are so many ways to celebrate World Teachers Day. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Make your teacher feel appreciated, and let them know how they have made a positive impact on your life.

  2. Coordinate with PTA to set up prizes for teachers or a potluck. Surprise your teacher with gifts, whether homemade or store-bought!

  3. You can also donate to an education organization, such as non-profit organizations created to help teachers, particularly those who work in underprivileged areas.

Why is celebrating World Teachers Day important?

Celebrating World Teachers Day honors the profession. They have patience and are a positive influence on our future generations.

They deal with many complex issues within educational systems throughout the world. Not many of them talk about so today can shine more light on what they go through. It also applauds the progress that we have made as an education system, yet there is still a long way.
